The Story to Date
April 16th 2001 - Overstone Hall Fire damages/guts 60% of the building
​
2009 – New Testament Church of God vacates the building to move to new offices in Cheyne Walk, Northampton.
​
November 2014 – The Abbey Dorcas Society vacate the building, leaving the Hall unoccupied.
​
June 2015 - Daventry District Council applies for a civil order instructing the New Testament Church of God to make Overstone Hall ‘safe’
​
July 2016 – Barry Howard Homes (BHH) purchase’s Overstone Hall for £752,500 + vat
​
July 2016 – Daventry DC reduce their restoration budget for the Hall from £750,000 to £225,000
​
March 13th 2017 – A hand delivered letter is received by all residents of Overstone/Sywell from Framptons (Planning Consultants) on behalf of BHH. The letter outlines a planning proposal for 220 homes on the Church Farm fields adjacent to Overstone Hall, as part of the ‘enabling development’ of the building
​
March 14th 2017 – A group of Overstone residents form Overstone RUINED in direct opposition to the planning proposal
​
March 19th 2017 – Initial Overstone RUINED meeting is held
​
March 20th 2017 – Overstone residents petitioned – door to door and online
​
March 23rd 2017 – Framptons host an ‘exhibition’ at Overstone Golf Club to showcase the BHH proposals
​
March 2017 – Facebook, Web site and crowd funding facilities all created
​
March 2017 – All Overstone Parish councillors lobbied
​
March 2017 – All Daventry District councillors lobbied
​
March 2017 – Relevant Northants County Council Councillors lobbied
​
April 4th 2017 – Article published in the Chronicle and Echo outlining Overstone RUINED’s protestations

April 6th 2017 – Meeting with Overstone Parish Council

April 2017 – All Wellingborough Borough Councillors lobbied

April 2017 – Overstone RUINED Newsletter distributed throughout Overstone and Sywell

April 2017 – Posters appear throughout Overstone and Sywell

April 2017 – Meetings arranged with Chris Heaton-Harris (MP), Mike Warren (Local Daventry Councillor) and Rupert Knowles (Northants CC)

June 2017 - Potential deal to move the 'Enabling Development' to a site adjacent to 'Overstone Leys', unfortunately falls through
June 2017 – Article published in the Sywell and Overstone Newsletter

September 2017 – A number of alternative proposals to 'Enable the Development' of the Hall are put forward by BHH - ten in total.

May 2018 – Residents of Overstone are notified of a Planning Application submitted by Barry Howard Homes for the Construction of 60 Dwellings for the part enabling development of the restoration of Overstone Hall

May 2018 – Overstone RUINED Newsletter distributed throughout Overstone and Sywell
​
June 2018 – Overstone RUINED 'Open Day' held at the Village Hall
